Atlas Air is a major American cargo airline, passenger charter airline, and aircraft lessor based in Purchase, New York, with its main operating hub at Miami International Airport. Founded in April 1992 by entrepreneur Michael Chowdry, the airline began operations in 1993 with a single Boeing 747-200F. Today, Atlas Air operates the world's largest fleet of 747 freighter aircraft and serves more than 330 airports across 80+ countries.
The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings and is a global leader in ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) services, charter operations, and scheduled cargo services. Atlas Air also holds a significant stake in Polar Air Cargo.
