The role and history of Thailand's all-cargo airline

The founding of K-Mile Air marked a historic shift in Thai air cargo from carrying freight in passenger bellies to dedicated freighter operation. Freighter operation means more payload, more flexible flight planning, more specialized cargo handling and the ability to carry special cargo such as oversize pieces, dangerous goods and temperature-controlled shipments. For traders and forwarders that need steady, efficient air freight, that is important infrastructure.

Ownership is 55 percent Thai investors and 45 percent ASL Aviation Holdings, held through ASL Airlines Switzerland. The international ownership brought capital and, more importantly, ASL group experience in freighter operations worldwide, safety management standards and a broad commercial network. ASL Aviation Holdings is a leading global cargo airline group with 8 airlines, more than 160 aircraft and services to over 150 airports, counting DHL, FedEx, UPS and Amazon among its customers.

In nearly two decades K-Mile Air has grown from a small freighter operator into a regional cargo airline covering Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Middle East. Its main customers include DHL Express, for which it operates scheduled flights five days a week, evidence that its operations and service meet international standards. For Chinese exporters and forwarders shipping air cargo from mainland China and Hong Kong to Southeast Asia and South Asia, K-Mile Air is a dependable regional partner.

Hong Kong — daily scheduled cargo flights

Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is K-Mile Air's most important point in China, served by daily scheduled freighter flights. One of the world's busiest cargo airports, Hong Kong is the core gateway for exports from southern China. Cargo from the main manufacturing regions of Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang reaches Bangkok quickly on these flights and connects onward to Southeast Asian countries.

Shenzhen — direct cargo service to Bangkok

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) is a centre of Chinese technology and manufacturing and an important origin for cross-border e-commerce logistics. K-Mile Air flies direct from Shenzhen to Bangkok, giving exporters in the Pearl River Delta an efficient air channel. The Chiang Mai to Shenzhen route added in 2026 strengthens the cargo link between Shenzhen and northern Thailand and supports imports of fresh Thai fruit.

Six cargo advantages of K-Mile Air

Thailand's only all-cargo airline

As Thailand's first and only all-cargo airline, K-Mile Air runs a dedicated cargo operation with its own freighters, unconstrained by passenger schedules or belly capacity, offering higher payload and more flexible flight planning.

Core partner to DHL and FedEx

K-Mile Air is a core scheduled partner of DHL Express in Southeast Asia, with service five days a week, and an ASL group airline working with global logistics companies including FedEx, UPS and Amazon, so its service quality has been tested by top international customers.

High payload from the B767 widebody freighter

The Boeing 767-300BCF added in 2024 carries up to 51.7 tonnes on the main deck and has 24 standard pallet positions, taking oversize and heavy cargo and lifting K-Mile Air from narrowbody to widebody capability.

Specialist perishable and temperature-controlled transport

Thailand is a major global exporter of tropical fruit and seafood. K-Mile Air's freighter operation has well-developed handling for temperature-controlled cargo, and the Chiang Mai to Shenzhen route added in 2026 supports fresh Thai fruit exports, showing its capability in perishable cold-chain logistics.

Support for cross-border e-commerce logistics

With Southeast Asian e-commerce growing quickly, K-Mile Air gives cross-border sellers and platforms an efficient air channel from China to Southeast Asia. Scheduled flights keep transit times stable, which suits e-commerce replenishment, FBA transfers and direct cross-border mail.

Regional flexibility and fast response

With the Bangkok hub and several regional operating bases (Hanoi, Jakarta, Phnom Penh), K-Mile Air can move capacity flexibly and respond quickly to market changes. Seven flights a day keep cargo moving and meet demanding transit requirements.

K-Mile Air cargo services

Express and parcel carriage

As a scheduled partner of DHL Express, K-Mile Air handles large volumes of international express and parcel cargo every day. High frequency and specialized handling keep parcels moving and on time, suiting documents, samples and small items with tight transit requirements. Chinese e-commerce parcels and business documents reach Southeast Asian markets quickly through Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

Cross-border e-commerce air freight

For Southeast Asia's fast-growing e-commerce market, K-Mile Air runs dedicated cross-border air services from China to Southeast Asia, covering platform volume shipments, FBA warehouse transfers and overseas warehouse replenishment, and helping cross-border sellers reach Southeast Asian consumers quickly.

Perishable cold-chain transport

K-Mile Air has extensive experience in perishable cold-chain transport, particularly air exports of Thai tropical fruit (durian, mangosteen, longan and others) and seafood. Freighter operation gives temperature-controlled cargo a more stable environment, and the 2026 Chiang Mai to Shenzhen fruit lane is the latest expression of that cold-chain capability.

Charter service

For large, urgent or special shipments, K-Mile Air can provide whole-aircraft charters. Customers can set flight times, routings and technical stops to suit the cargo, which particularly suits seasonal bulk cargo such as the fruit harvest, urgent project materials and out-of-gauge shipments. Chinese exporters can request a charter assessment from us for peak season or urgent needs.

Oversize and heavy cargo

The Boeing 767-300BCF gives K-Mile Air the ability to carry oversize and heavy cargo. With 51.7 tonnes on the main deck and 24 standard pallet positions it takes out-of-gauge pieces, industrial equipment and vehicle parts that narrowbody freighters cannot handle. Chinese exports of industrial equipment and vehicle parts can move from Chinese airports on the K-Mile widebody freighter.

Scheduled flights protect transit time

Seven scheduled flights a day and a network of more than 7 destinations give cargo reliable transit times. The daily Hong Kong flight and scheduled services to several Southeast Asian countries in particular keep cargo moving and connecting. Combined with charter flexibility, customers can choose the best option for their needs.

Freight operations

01

Is K-Mile Air a passenger or a cargo airline? Can it carry personal baggage?

K-Mile Air is an all-cargo airline that operates cargo flights only and carries no passengers. All capacity is used for freight, with no passenger schedule or belly space constraints. Personal baggage must travel on a passenger flight; K-Mile Air does not accept it. Customers shipping commercial cargo from China to Southeast Asia can book through Goodhope Freight as their forwarder.

02

Can cargo from mainland China book K-Mile Air capacity directly?

Yes. K-Mile Air operates daily flights from Hong Kong and a direct service from Shenzhen, and mainland Chinese cargo can use its capacity in two ways: truck cargo from Shenzhen, Guangzhou and other southern Chinese cities to Shenzhen Bao'an or Hong Kong airport and fly it on a K-Mile Air freighter to Bangkok or a Southeast Asian destination; or use the one-stop service from Goodhope Freight, where we handle pickup at the customer's factory, export clearance and airport delivery to the K-Mile Air flight. This is particularly efficient for exports from the Pearl River Delta to Southeast Asia.

03

What is the largest cargo K-Mile Air can carry, and what special cargo can the B767 take?

K-Mile Air introduced a Boeing 767-300BCF widebody freighter in September 2024 with 51.7 tonnes of main deck payload and 24 standard pallet positions. A widebody freighter takes cargo far larger and heavier than a narrowbody: individual pieces can weigh several tonnes depending on dimensions and loading position, and large equipment, machinery parts and large palletized cargo can all be carried. The B767's 6,105 km range also allows long-haul routes such as the Abu Dhabi service. For oversize or overweight cargo, contact Goodhope Freight for a detailed loading assessment.

04

How frequent are K-Mile Air flights, and are transit times reliable?

K-Mile Air operates 7 scheduled cargo flights a day covering all destinations on its network. The Hong Kong service is daily, which protects transit times for southern Chinese exports. Bangkok, as the core hub, provides efficient connections, and cargo is distributed quickly to Southeast Asian countries. For customers such as DHL Express, K-Mile Air provides scheduled service five days a week. Overall, its frequency and punctuality meet the transit requirements of most air cargo; exact transit times depend on the origin and destination cities, and Goodhope Freight can give a precise estimate.

05

How is cargo tracked on K-Mile Air?

When you book through Goodhope Freight we provide full shipment tracking. The customer receives the air waybill number and can check cargo status in the K-Mile Air tracking system or on third-party tracking platforms. Our customer service team also sends flight status, transfer status and estimated arrival updates. K-Mile Air's IATA code is 8K, used on waybills and flight numbers. For live tracking and proactive status updates, book through Goodhope Freight.

06

What is the relationship between K-Mile Air and Goodhope Freight?

Goodhope Freight (Goodhope Logistics (China) Limited) is an independent international freight forwarder that arranges bookings and end-to-end logistics for customers on K-Mile Air routes. We know the K-Mile Air booking system, operating procedures and cargo requirements well, but we are not a branch or representative office of K-Mile Air. The relationship is commercial cooperation, and space, rates and handling requirements are subject to carrier confirmation at the time of booking.

07

How far ahead should Chinese shippers book through us?

For general cargo, contact us three to five working days before the planned ship date with the commodity, piece count, weight and dimensions, plus origin and destination. We confirm space with the carrier and revert with the estimated ship date, arrange customs declaration and loading after the cargo is received at the terminal, and provide air waybill details and tracking after departure. Allow more time for outsize, temperature-controlled or battery-containing cargo; actual space is subject to confirmation on the day of booking.
