US-Bangla Airlines

The largest airline in Bangladesh by fleet size, with its main hub at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, operating a mixed fleet of Airbus A330-300 widebodies, Boeing 737-800s and ATR 72-600s to more than fourteen international points in South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. For Chinese shippers the value lies in the belly capacity of the daily direct Guangzhou–Dhaka flight, a frequency that matches the shipping rhythm of the Pearl River Delta, and in onward connections at Dhaka to South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Airline overview

Company history and business focus

US-Bangla Airlines (IATA two-letter code BS, ICAO three-letter code UBG, call sign BANGLASTAR) is the largest private airline in Bangladesh and part of the diversified US-Bangla Group. It was founded in 2013 and began commercial operations on 17 July 2014 with domestic flights from Dhaka to Chittagong and Jessore. Its head office is in Baridhara Diplomatic Zone, Dhaka, its main base is Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, and it has key operating points at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong and at Cox's Bazar Airport.

The airline works to safety, punctuality and reliability, and has the largest fleet in Bangladeshi civil aviation. As of October 2025 the fleet numbers 25 aircraft on register: three Airbus A330-300 widebodies, nine Boeing 737-800s and ten ATR 72-600 turboprops, covering medium-haul intercontinental, regional mainline and domestic feeder markets. It took its first widebody in February 2024 and its third A330-300 in October 2025, with widebody capacity deployed mainly on Hajj and Umrah routes to Saudi Arabia and on medium-haul Middle East markets. Cargo moves in passenger belly holds and the airline owns no freighters. Export garments, leather goods and seafood, and imported industrial raw materials, are the main commodities.

For Chinese shippers the core value is the Guangzhou–Dhaka mainline. The route has run daily since May 2025 with Boeing 737-800s on night departures and arrivals, so cargo can be declared and loaded the same day and reach Dhaka early the next morning, which suits steady shipments of garment trims, fabric, electronic components, machinery parts and cross-border e-commerce parcels. After arrival at Dhaka the airline's own flights connect to South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, giving one-connection coverage of several markets.

From a forwarder's view, the route fills the gap for high-frequency, small-lot shipments to Bangladesh. The flag carrier's widebody belly suits bulk, cost-sensitive general cargo, while daily narrowbody belly suits orders with tight delivery dates planned day by day. The two complement each other, so exporters can switch with their order rhythm instead of delaying shipments to fill space. We work with both carriers and recommend direct or connecting options by volume and delivery date at the booking stage.

US-Bangla Airlines cargo products and capacity structure

Daily belly capacity as the base

Dhaka–Guangzhou round trip daily with Boeing 737-800s; space is allocated per flight and confirmed the same day, which suits trading shipments planned by the week.

Widebody medium-haul capacity

Airbus A330-300s are deployed to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, with noticeably more belly volume than narrowbodies for bulk general cargo on medium-haul sectors.

Onward connections at Dhaka

Dhaka connects to South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East; a through waybill can cover several markets, and connection times are calculated against the flight actually operating.

No freighters and no charters

The company owns no freightersNone available; oversized pieces and full-aircraft charters need separate capacity, which we can arrange.

Capacity structure note: US-Bangla's cargo capability comes from passenger belly holds. Narrowbody belly suits small high-value shipments and urgent cargo; widebody belly takes larger volumes of general cargo. Cargo can be mixed on the same flight, and acceptable weight and volume are set by the carrier against the flight's payload and balance. Belly space depends on passenger load and bag weight, so available cargo narrows sharply when flights are full at holidays and in the Hajj season; shipment plans should avoid those periods or lock space early.

Fleet: three tiers of widebody, narrowbody and turboprop

The fleet is arranged in three tiers by range. The Airbus A330-300 is the widebody core, twin-aisle with 436 seats and the largest belly volume in the fleet, flying Saudi Hajj and Umrah routes and medium-haul Middle East markets. The Boeing 737-800 seats 189 and is the backbone of regional and international short and medium sectors; it flies the Guangzhou route, with high frequency and a mature maintenance system. The ATR 72-600 turboprop seats 70 to 78 and builds domestic feeder and short regional markets, with take-off and landing performance suited to runways at Bangladesh's smaller airports. The three types cover different sector lengths and passenger and cargo needs, giving the airline flexibility to shift capacity between peak and off-peak seasons.

Booking path through a freight forwarder

US-Bangla has a representative office in Guangzhou and sells cargo there, so shippers can contact the carrier directly or book through a forwarder. For shippers planning weekly output and needing steady space, having a forwarder handle booking, export declaration and Dhaka connections is more efficient; the main points are:

  • Space on a daily schedule: the forwarder locks space by the week and can move a shipment to another date in the same week if a flight is adjusted, reducing delay.
  • Working to an early morning return departure: the return flight leaves early in the morning, so delivery and declaration must be finished the previous working day; the forwarder works the operational milestones back from the cut-off.
  • Transit connections are checked by a person, not a system: cargo continuing through Dhaka is sensitive to connection times, so the forwarder calculates the shortest connection from the day's times and leaves an operating margin.
  • Documents completed once: export declaration, accompanying documents and certificate of origin are handled by the forwarder, reducing the risk of cargo being offloaded for documentary discrepancies.
  • Information needed for bookingCommodity, number of pieces, per-piece and total weight and dimensions, origin and destination airports, preferred departure date, and any special characteristics such as batteries or liquids.

Why use US-Bangla Airlines for cargo

Daily frequency

Guangzhou–Dhaka runs daily, so shipments can be planned day by day without holding stock to fill a flight, which suits fast-moving trade and e-commerce orders in small batches.

Night departures and arrivals allow same-day handling

Outbound flights leave at night and return flights leave early morning, so cargo can be declared and loaded the same day and reach Dhaka in the early hours of the next, cutting time on the ground.

The largest fleet in the country

The fleet is the largest in Bangladeshi civil aviation, with more room to reallocate aircraft and crews, so capacity recovers quickly after a schedule change in peak season.

Widebody belly capacity as a supplement

Airbus A330-300s offer more belly volume to the Middle East and Saudi Arabia and can be combined with the Guangzhou route to relieve payload limits on a single sector.

Coverage in South and Southeast Asia

From Dhaka, cargo continues to Kathmandu, Kolkata, Chennai, Male, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, covering several markets with one connection and lowering the cost of segmented shipping.

Its own office in Guangzhou

The carrier has a representative office in Guangzhou, so booking confirmation, documents and exceptions can be handled directly, with a short communication chain and fast response.

Limits of these advantages: US-Bangla's strengths are direct China–Bangladesh traffic and connections at Dhaka to South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, all on passenger belly capacity. Oversized pieces, overweight equipment and full-aircraft charters are outside its scope, and we can introduce carriers with freighter capacity.

Airports served in China

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is its only published scheduled point and can carry export cargo. No scheduled flights from other Chinese airports are recorded; if another gateway is needed we can offer alternative carriers.

Dhaka–Guangzhou schedule and timings

Dhaka–Guangzhou is BS325, one daily, departing 22:20 and arriving 03:50 the next day; Guangzhou–Dhaka is BS326, one daily, departing 05:00 and arriving 06:45. All times are local, schedules change with the season and the carrier's confirmation on the booking date prevails.

Range of countries reachable from China

Cargo from China can fly direct to Bangladesh and connect at Dhaka to Nepal, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Maldives, and to the UAE, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia. Actual reach depends on the connections and space confirmed for the flight.

Full-aircraft charters and oversized cargo

The company owns no freightersNone available; belly capacity cannot take full-aircraft charters or oversized and overweight equipment. For such requirements we can introduce carriers with freighter capacity or design a plan connecting through a hub.

Suitability for US and Europe traffic

US-Bangla's network is concentrated on South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the Maldives; Europe and North America are not its strength. For China–US traffic we can book scheduled capacity with the major China–US carriers; for Europe we can offer other carriers under one quote.

How does cargo connect at Dhaka for other countries?

After flying direct from Guangzhou to Dhaka, Chinese cargo can connect at Dhaka airport to the airline's flights to Nepal, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Middle East, giving one booking across several sectors. We track the connection and document flow at Dhaka; where transit collection or a document change is involved, we confirm it at booking and notify the consignee. Actual reach depends on the connections and space confirmed for the flight.
