Ariana Afghan Airlines was founded on 27 January 1955 and is the oldest airline in Afghanistan, wholly state-owned. It is headquartered in the Shahr-e Naw district of Kabul, with Kabul Hamid Karzai International Airport as its main hub and Kandahar International Airport as a secondary hub, operating a passenger network linking the main Afghan cities with neighboring countries. Its history has run alongside the development of Afghan civil aviation, and through decades of regional change it has continued to carry out the national air transport function.
Border trade and engineering cooperation between China and Afghanistan have a long history. Chinese machinery and electrical products, building materials, textiles and garments, telecom equipment, agricultural processing machinery and medical devices move to Kabul, Kandahar, Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif by both air and road. On the air side, no published information shows Ariana operating nonstop cargo flights from China to Afghanistan, and Chinese exporters generally use three routings.
Route one: cargo departs Guangzhou, Shenzhen or Urumqi, transits Dubai International and connects to an Ariana flight to Kabul. Dubai is the most common transit point from China to Afghanistan because of its flight density. Route two: cargo transits Istanbul and connects to an Ariana flight from its European network to Kabul. Route three: cargo transits Delhi Indira Gandhi International or Urumqi Diwopu International and connects to an Ariana flight from its South Asian network to Kabul.
On those routings, Goodhope Logistics (China) Limited provides Chinese shippers with an integrated air freight program covering domestic pickup, export declaration, mainline booking, transit connections, Kabul belly booking and clearance support at destination.
