Home / Logistics Knowledge / De Minimis Thresholds by Country
De minimis is the value below which imports escape duty (and sometimes tax). The rules changed sharply in 2025-2026, so check the current threshold before assuming a parcel is free.
De minimis sets a value below which a shipment is exempt from duty, and sometimes from import tax. Some countries exempt duty but still charge VAT or GST; others exempt both. Thresholds and rules shift, so verify against the official source before shipping.

| United States | None - suspended from 29 Aug 2025 | All low-value parcels generally dutiable |
| European Union | EUR 150 abolished 1 Jul 2026; EUR 3 per-item duty on distance sales up to EUR 150 (to 2028) | VAT charged (IOSS or at import) |
| United Kingdom | GBP 135 duty exemption | 20% VAT from first pound (seller collects up to GBP 135) |
| Australia | AUD 1,000 | 10% GST; collected at checkout by registered sellers |
| Canada | CAD 20 general; CAD 150 duty and CAD 40 tax for CUSMA courier from US or MX | 5% GST plus provincial tax |
