Brunei's box trade enters through Muara, the country's main container port. On our South-East Asia service the market splits neatly: Tianjin and Ningbo offer economical space with Singapore or direct routing, while Shanghai and Xiamen sell faster direct boxes at a premium.
Volume and weight rates are quoted side by side on several services here — the invoice uses whichever conversion produces the larger billable figure, so dense cargo should be priced carefully before booking.
How to read these rates: figures are indicative reference levels for port-to-port LCL ocean freight, updated for October 2026. They exclude origin haulage, warehouse and customs charges, destination port charges and any surcharges. Space, cut-off times and rates must be re-confirmed at booking.

Speed versus economy
Tianjin's EMC box is the standout: about 10 days to Muara at USD 69/CBM. Ningbo trades two to five extra days for a slightly lower rate. The Shanghai service is the odd one out — dearer (USD 90–120/CBM) and slower at 25 days, so use it only when cargo is already routed through Shanghai.
Worked example
A 1.5 CBM consignment from Tianjin bills at 69 × 1.5 = USD 103.50, while a 0.5 CBM consignment pays the 1 CBM minimum of USD 69 — barely more than half the freight for a third of the cargo. Topping a small shipment up toward the next break point is often cheaper per cubic metre.
