Main functions of Libya Customs
Supervise import and export goods:
Review the declaration documents of import and export goods, and verify the name, quantity,
value and other information of the goods.
Check whether the goods meet the quality standards and safety requirements stipulated by the
state.
Collect customs duties, value-added tax and other taxes.
Prevent smuggling, tax evasion and other illegal activities.
Protect national security:
Prohibit the import and export of illegal items, such as drugs, weapons, endangered
wildlife, etc.
Prevent terrorist activities.
Protect the national economy:
Protect domestic industries by regulating imports and exports.
Promote the development of foreign trade.
Collect statistical data:
Collect and organize import and export trade data to provide a basis for the government to formulate economic policies.
