Abstract of Bulgarian customs policy

Trade regulations

The current common customs tariff of the European Union is the Regulation (EEC) No. 2913/92 on the establishment of the European Union Customs Code, formulated by the Council of Ministers of the European Union in 1992. It makes unified provisions for the common customs tariff, the principle of origin and customs valuation. The EU implements an average tariff rate of 6.5% for most-favored nations, with a tariff range of 0-209%. There is an obvious tariff peak. The tariffs on agricultural products are generally high, with an average tariff rate of up to 16.5%. Among the agricultural product tax items, 4% of the products have a tariff rate of more than 50%, and some agricultural products are also subject to tariff quota management. The average tariff rate for non-agricultural products is 4.1%.

Customs management regulations

After Bulgaria joined the European Union, its customs management implemented the unified policies and regulations of the European Union. At the same time, it is also subject to the relevant laws and regulations of Bulgaria, such as the Administrative Law, the Criminal Law, the Civil Law, the Value Added Tax Law, and the Value Added Tax Implementation Regulations.
