OverviewThe Cook Islands Customs import and export cargo policy is made up of the Customs Act, the Customs (Import) Regulations, and other relevant regulations. These laws and regulations govern the declaration, clearance, tariffs and taxes, and prohibited and restricted import and export goods.
Import and Export Cargo Declaration
All import and export cargo must be declared to Cook Islands Customs. Import cargo declarations must be submitted within 14 days before the cargo arrives in the Cook Islands. Export cargo declarations must be submitted within 7 days before the cargo is shipped.
Import and Export Cargo Clearance
After import and export cargo is declared, Customs will review and inspect it. If the cargo complies with Customs regulations, Customs will issue a release notice. The goods can be released. If the cargo does not comply with Customs regulations, Customs will take measures such as detention, fines, and confiscation.
Prohibited and Restricted Import and Export Goods
The Cook Islands prohibits or restricts the import of the following goods:
