Choosing Between FCL and LCL for Shipping Between China and Bangladesh

LCL: Less than Container Load
LCL, or Less than Container Load, is a shipping method where multiple shippers' goods are consolidated into a single container. This option is ideal for smaller shipments that do not fill an entire container. If your cargo is less than 15 cubic meters, LCL might be a suitable choice. It offers greater flexibility as you essentially share space and costs within the container, rather than paying for unused space.
FCL: Full Container Load
FCL, or Full Container Load, refers to a shipping method where an entire shipping container is dedicated to a single shipper's cargo. This option is suitable for large shipments where a single shipper occupies the entire container. FCL offers enhanced security and control over your goods. When your cargo exceeds 13/14/15 cubic meters, FCL becomes a more cost-effective option.
Advantages of FCL:
Shorter transit times
Higher security for goods
Lower freight rates, especially for large shipments
Shippers can pack and seal their own containers, reducing handling at terminals and increasing efficiency

Note: These rates are for reference only and may not reflect actual costs. Actual air freight costs can vary depending on factors such as the nature of the goods, flight distance, fuel price fluctuations, and airline pricing strategies.
Volumetric Weight Calculation:
Formula: Volume (cubic meters) = (Length x Width x Height) / 167 kg (where
dimensions are in centimeters)
This is the standard formula used by airlines worldwide to determine chargeable weight.
Example: If your shipment measures 120cm x 100cm x 100cm and weighs 90kg,
the carrier will not charge you based on the actual weight. Due to the package's dimensions
and the space it occupies, the chargeable weight needs to be calculated.
Chargeable weight (express) = (120cm x 100cm x 100cm) / 5000 = 240kgs
Chargeable weight (air freight) = (120cm x 100cm x 100cm) / 6000 = 200kgs
Since 200kgs > 90kgs, the volumetric weight will be used for billing.
