Public Holidays

Easter: The date is not fixed, usually in spring. Bahamians will hold religious ceremonies and celebrations to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Labor Day: The first Monday in June every year. A holiday established to commemorate the contributions of workers, with parades and rallies.

Pentecost Monday: The 50th day after Easter, celebrating the Pentecost.

August Monday: The first Monday in August every year. It is a public holiday in the Bahamas, usually used for celebration and leisure.

Independence Day: October 10. The Bahamas declared independence in 1973. This day is the Bahamas' National Day, and grand celebrations will be held throughout the country.

Columbus Day (Discovery Day): October 12. Established to commemorate Columbus' discovery of America, it is a public holiday in the Bahamas.

Christmas Day: December 25. It is a global holiday.

Boxing Day: The first working day after Christmas. Boxing Day is the traditional day for giving gifts.

Special Holidays

Pirate Day: The Bahamas was once a paradise for pirates. In order to commemorate this history, a Pirate Festival is held every year. The specific date and location vary from island to island.

Music Festival: The Bahamas has a rich music culture and various music festivals are held throughout the year. These festivals usually last for several days and include music performances, parades and food.

Local religious festivals: Bahamian residents believe in many religions, including Christianity, Catholicism, Islam, etc.

Carnival: Some islands in the Bahamas hold carnival activities, during which there will be grand parades, dances and food festivals.

Fishery Festival: The Bahamas is rich in fishery resources, and many coastal areas hold fishery festivals to celebrate the harvest and showcase the local fishery culture.
