LCL sea freight from China to Bahrain — 2026 reference rates

Bahrain is one of the few Gulf destinations we consolidate direct — no Middle East transhipment — which keeps both the rate and the transit time competitive. Services run from Hong Kong (on the HK-WHL co-load) and Tianjin (on WHL's own box), both sailing on a Wednesday cut-off, Monday departure cycle.
One local rule to plan for: Bahrain requires all imported LCL cargo to be palletised — crated on wooden pallets and wrapped in PVC. Cargo presented loose is palletised by the destination agent at the consignee's expense, so it is cheaper to palletise at origin.
How to read these rates: figures are indicative reference levels for port-to-port LCL ocean freight, updated for October 2026. They exclude origin haulage, warehouse and customs charges, destination port charges and any surcharges. Space, cut-off times and rates must be re-confirmed at booking.

The per-CBM figures in the source tariff look understated for this trade lane. Treat them strictly as reference levels and request a live quotation — realistic all-in LCL rates to the Gulf are materially higher once origin and destination charges are added.
Freight is collectible on Bahrain services, so the consignee can pay the ocean freight on presentation of the bill of lading.
The palletisation rule in practice
Bahrain's customs and port community expect consolidated cargo on wooden pallets (ISPMP-15 treated where applicable) and shrink-wrapped. Palletising at origin costs a little packing labour; palletising at destination is billed as out-of-gauge handling and can exceed the origin cost several times over. Carton-only cargo should therefore be palletised before delivery to our warehouse.
Hong Kong versus Tianjin
Both services are direct with a 20-day transit. The choice is usually driven by where the cargo sits: South China factories ship ex-Hong Kong, northern China ex-Tianjin. Note the volume-ratio difference — Hong Kong consolidates at 1 CBM = 1,000 kg, Tianjin at 1 CBM = 500 kg — which matters for dense cargo such as tools or spare parts.
