Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Taxes (DGDDI)
The Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Taxes (DGDDI) is a tax administration attached to the Ministry of Finance and Public Accounts.
Missions
Customs fulfills three main missions:
fiscal, by collecting duties and taxes,
economic: on the basis of the rules set for international trade, customs facilitates foreign
trade with 2 priority objectives: regulation and quality (support for the competitiveness of
companies),
fight against fraud and major international trafficking, under the heading of security, public
health, the environment (fight against various pollutions) and national heritage (control of
trade in works of art, collectibles and antiques).
In Réunion, customs duties do however have specific features due to the special tax regime
of the overseas departments.
