Burkina Faso Customs Import and Export Policy
Customs Management Regulations
The General Administration of Customs of Burkina Faso is affiliated to the Ministry of Finance and exercises its powers in accordance with the Customs Law of Burkina Faso revised in 1992. Burkina Faso officially implemented the West African Economic and Monetary Union common tariff on January 1, 2000. The customs import tax rates are divided into four levels, namely:
(1) Zero tariff: currency in circulation, medicines, newsprint, books, newspapers,
insecticide-impregnated mosquito nets, pharmaceutical raw materials, laboratory reagents, medical
rubber gloves, artificial limbs, etc.;
(2) 5% tariff: raw materials, fertilizers, pesticides and other necessary means of
production, seeds, eyeglasses, agricultural tractors, etc.;
(3) 10% tariff: yeast, soap-making oils, baking powder, buses, freight vehicles,
pressure pipes, etc.;
(4) 20% and above tariffs: various manufactured products and other commodities.
