Fiji's import and export controls are relatively loose, but the controls on imported animals, plants and their unprocessed products are relatively strict. The laws and regulations on foreign trade are relatively complete, clear and transparent. The country's foreign trade management is mainly carried out through laws and regulations, including the Customs Law, the Animal Import Law, the Dangerous Drugs Law, the Trademark Law, the Plant Quarantine Law, the Health Quarantine Law, the Food Law, the Medicine and Drugs Law and the Foreign Exchange Management Law. The main legal systems for Fiji's customs management include:
(1) Customs Law. Enacted in 1986, it was revised twice on January 29, 2010 and January 21, 2013.
(2) Customs Regulations. It was passed in 1986 and revised many times, the most recent revision
being January 2013.
(3) Customs Tariff Law. The law was enacted in 1986 and has been amended several times, the most recent being the December 2012 amendment.
