Worked example

Documents of 0.5 kg cost RMB 116.9, while goods of 0.5 kg cost RMB 120.2 — documents are cheaper, capped at 2.5 kg. The average all-in price on this lane worked out around RMB 40 per kilogram: 100 kg of hardware accessories from Dongguan to London cost roughly RMB 40 × 1.18 (fuel surcharge) × 100 = RMB 4,720.

Applicable and restricted goods

The list covered ordinary goods such as books, luggage, globes, computers, mobile phones, textiles, pictures, safes, medical devices, masks and samples. It excluded cosmetics, facial masks, cosmetic contact lenses, branded products, glasses, magnetic items, food and instant noodles.

How the agent channel works

The agent consolidates customer goods at the Shenzhen container warehouse, prepares customs clearance documents, and feeds the consolidated volume to the DHL Hong Kong or mainland DHL gateway. Shipments from other cities — Yiwu, Xiamen, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nanjing, Qingdao, Xi'an, Chongqing, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Lanzhou, Xining, Baoji, Dalian, Changsha, Nanchang, Guangzhou and Dongguan — were fed to Shenzhen by domestic express (SF, STO, YTO).

UK coverage

Delivery to Felixstowe, London, Manchester, Northampton, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool and more; remote rural areas attract a remote-area surcharge.

FBA shipments

Many cross-border e-commerce customers used this channel to ship DHL to Amazon FBA warehouses in the UK — fast, and the goods moved normally throughout 2020.
