The express warehouse trades a USD 2 premium per CBM for a different weekly slot — but its transit is quoted at 40 days versus 35, so on this lane 'express' refers to the warehouse handling class, not faster delivery. Choose by cargo density, not by name.
Worked example
A 3 CBM, 3.5-tonne consignment ex-Tianjin on the standard service: 3.5 tonnes converts to 3.5 CBM at 1 CBM = 1,000 kg, which exceeds the actual 3 CBM, so freight bills on weight — 56 × 3.5 = USD 196. The 1 CBM minimum is comfortably cleared.
Why Port Louis matters
Mauritius is the Indian Ocean consolidation hub for the Mozambique Channel islands. The transhipment adds reliable weekly connections but also a second customs and handling cycle — pack to pallet standard, and make sure the bill of lading shows Comoros as final destination to avoid re-clearance confusion.
