DHL Battery Operation Guide

The DHL Battery Operation Guide introduces the detailed requirements and for the delivery of supporting battery and built-in battery product. It is mainly about what can or can not be sent.

We are subject to the following regulations for delivering batteries through DHL International Express to Japan / Korea / Singapore / USA / Australia / Canada / Central South America / Africa / Middle East, etc..

2019 DHL Battery Operation Update and Notes

• 1, (#) The new battery label will take effect on January 1, 2024 (see Figure A below), and the existing lithium battery label can continue to be used until December 31, 2024 . From January 1, 2024 on, only the lithium battery label can be used.
• 2, (*) The following two cases can be exempted from the lithium battery label:

  1) The same set does not exceed two packages, and each package does not exceed 4 batteries or 2 battery packs, and the battery is installed Inside the device.;

  2) The package contains only button batteries and is installed in the device (including on the circuit board)

• 3. From December 27, 2024 , the mobile power supply is defined as PI965 (pure battery) and is prohibited from being delivered.
• 4,per CELL> 20WH or per BATTERY ≥100WH is dangerous and will not be shipped.
• 5, battery power (WH) = {battery capacity (mAh) * volt (V)} / 1000
• 6, dry battery: need to provide battery information (two originals) and two MSDS, waybill declaration statement: with dry batteries, not restricted and as per DGR SP A123 .

DHL Battery Export Requirements

• 1. All goods delivered with built-in lithium batteries must be packaged in accordance with IATA 38.3;
• 2. When the built-in lithium battery goods meet any of the following conditions, the MSDS must be provided with the goods, and the outer package should be labeled with the battery:

  1) no more than two items per set, but more than two batteries or four battery cells in each package;

  2) More than two items per set, even if there are no more than two batteries or four battery cells in each package.

• 3. When the built-in lithium battery goods meet any of the following conditions, the battery label can be exempted:

  1) No more than two items per set, and no more than two batteries or four battery cells in each package, and the battery is installed in the device;

  2) The package contains only button batteries and is installed in the device (including on the board).
